Resistance Action East Bay (RAEB), a local Indivisible group, started as a handful of East Bay residents handing out flyers at farmers markets. Under a second Trump administration, that same door-to-door, table-to-table work matters more than ever.
RAEB started as a handful of East Bay neighbors who decided that showing up in person, at farmers markets, transit stops, and each other's living rooms, mattered more than another petition. That first wave of outreach turned into tens of thousands of flyers handed out with a simple two-minute ask: turn out the vote, or resist. Patrons noticed, appreciated our work, and often stayed to help out or signed up to volunteer.
What started as a handful of volunteers grew into a legacy Indivisible group over 1,100 members strong, one that provided the first seed funding to Activate America and has kept building partnerships with GOTV organizations working to flip districts and protect the vote ever since. Along the way, RAEB found other ways to keep democracy funded and visible: Buying Blue campaigns that steer dollars toward businesses that share the same values, and Parties for Democracy, a model born out of necessity during the pandemic that turns ordinary birthdays and anniversaries into fundraisers, some raising as much as $10,000 in a single night.
2nd Thursday in person, 4th Thursday on Zoom, 6:30–8:00 PM PT. See the Events page for the next date, or email us for meeting details.
Every weekend, RAEB volunteers set up at East Bay farmers markets to talk with neighbors about protecting democracy and turning out the vote. New to canvassing? Watch the training video below, we also have a full tabling and canvassing toolkit and ready-to-print flyers so anyone can join in.
